Role: Design Manager
Location: London
We are currently looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering high-quality commercial workplace fit out and cut and carve refurbishment projects across London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and growing business with a strong pipeline of prestigious CAT A, CAT B, and cut and carve schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the design process throughout all project stages.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams to ensure design information is issued accurately and on programme.
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical submissions to ensure buildability and compliance.
- Drive design coordination meetings and manage consultant performance.
- Identify and resolve design and technical issues proactively.
- Ensure design programmes align with project delivery milestones.
- Work closely with commercial and operational teams to support successful project delivery.
- Monitor design changes and ensure all revisions are communicated effectively to project stakeholders.
- Support pre-construction activities including tender reviews and design input.
- Maintain high standards of quality, compliance, and technical coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Previous experience working for a Main Contractor is essential.
- Proven experience delivering commercial workplace fit out and/or cut and carve refurbishment projects within London.
- Strong understanding of CAT A, CAT B, and cut and carve construction projects.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work within fast-paced project environments.
- Experience using common construction and design management platforms is advantageous.
- Architectural background considered; experienced Architects looking to move into Design Management are encouraged to apply.
