The UK water sector is entering one of the most significant investment periods in its history, with billions being committed to improving environmental performance, increasing network resilience and reducing storm overflows.

As a result, an established engineering consultancy is looking to strengthen its team with a Civil Design Engineer to support a growing portfolio of wastewater infrastructure projects across the North West.

Whether you're seeking a permanent opportunity or an Outside IR35 contract position, this role offers the chance to work on meaningful projects that directly improve critical infrastructure and the environment.

Up to £60,000 salary or £35-£45/hr Outside IR35

The Role
You'll play a key role in the design and delivery of wastewater infrastructure projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical engineering solutions for a range of schemes across the regulated water sector.

Projects currently include upgrades to wastewater treatment works, pumped storm storage schemes, CSO improvements and new-build pumping station developments.

This is a role that offers variety, technical challenge and exposure to projects that are central to the future of the UK's water infrastructure.

Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) improvement projects

New-build Pumping Stations

Environmental improvement and compliance programmes

Wider wastewater network infrastructure projects

Civil Engineering design experience within infrastructure or utilities projects

Experience working on projects within the UK regulated water industry

Strong technical design and problem-solving capability

Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams

Comfortable managing workload and delivering to programme deadlines

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Hybrid office base from Manchester

Occasional site visits across project locations

Travel expenses paid for site attendance
