Salary: £28.2k per annum (increase to £31.3k upon successful completion of probationary period)

Once qualified, your earning potential increases with additionally paid standby & overtime.

About the Role
We're looking for exceptional Trainee Gas Engineers. No prior experience is required – we will provide all training, equipment and support. Your role will involve repairing, replacing, and laying new gas mains and services to keep our customers safe and warm.

Responsibilities

Support senior engineers on site and learn daily through gas service and mains repair activities.

Excavate and dig in public & private highways, lay and repair gas pipes in various outdoor environments while working safely as part of a team.

Assist with essential works to keep gas supply running to millions of people all year round, including standby and overtime for irregular hours.

Maintain SGN vans and tools before and after each job, ensuring equipment is ready for safe and efficient work.

Qualifications & Personal Attributes

Curious and eager to learn with a desire to develop skills continuously.

Resilient, capable of bouncing back from challenges and learning from mistakes.

Initiative owner who takes responsibility for the service we provide and seeks ways to improve.

Calm and adaptable in public interaction environments.

Comfortable working on rota with shift patterns, including weekends and nights (24/7 service).

Clean‐shaven, able to pass a face‐fit test and wear required dust masks and breathing apparatus.

Holds a full, valid UK driver's licence.

Based within a commutable distance from the desired locations due to operational response times.
