Hiring: Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer

Huddersfield, UK | Permanent | Pharmaceutical Manufacturing


We are partnering with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer to recruit an experienced Liquids Manufacturing & Packaging Lead Engineer to play a key role in driving equipment reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across a high-volume manufacturing environment.


The Opportunity

This position will act as the engineering lead for liquid manufacturing and packaging operations, ensuring critical production assets perform safely, efficiently, and reliably. You'll work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to reduce downtime, improve asset performance, and support long-term maintenance strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering support for manufacturing and packaging equipment, acting as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Drive equipment reliability through preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Support maintenance strategy development, asset care initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Analyse equipment performance using KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, downtime, and maintenance costs to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize maintenance plans, spare parts management, and CMMS data integrity.
  • Coach and mentor maintenance and engineering teams in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Support budget planning, cost optimization initiatives, and service contract reviews.
  • Champion TPM, Asset Care, and Operational Excellence initiatives across the manufacturing site.


What We're Looking For

  • Degree-qualified Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related discipline).
  • 8+ years of engineering experience within manufacturing, maintenance, reliability, or asset management environments.
  • Strong expertise in manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Experience with reliability engineering principles, maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS platforms and maintenance planning systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience within pharmaceutical, FMCG, food & beverage, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • GMP knowledge would be advantageous.
