This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll combine technical depth with project leadership. You will be supporting everything from early-stage development through to pilot-scale design, build, and commissioning.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Identifying new technologies and translating these into future project opportunities
  • Leading process engineering inputs across projects, from concept through to pilot-scale delivery
  • Undertaking techno-economic analyses and lifecycle assessments for novel processes
  • Delivering engineering calculations, technical reports, and design documentation to a high standard
  • Supporting design, specification, and commissioning of process equipment and facilities
  • Engaging with vendors and supporting equipment selection and procurement activities
  • Contributing to Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and working closely with multidisciplinary teams and external partners
  • Planning and executing experimental and pilot-scale activities, analysing and interpreting data
  • Supporting business development activities and contributing to proposals and client engagement
  • Ensuring compliance with SHE, GMP, and quality standards across all activities
  • Building strong internal and external networks, acting as a credible technical expert
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues, contributing to capability development across the team
  • Participating in hazard studies and risk assessments

About you:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering (or similar)
  • Strong industry experience in process engineering, ideally across scale-up, pilot plants, or complex process systems, particularly in early stage engineering
  • Proven ability to deliver technical solutions and solve complex engineering challenges
  • Experience with process design, equipment specification, and commissioning
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence across teams

Desirable:

  • Chartered (or working towards)
  • Masters degree (or equivalent) in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering (or similar)
  • Experience in biotech, fermentation, or food-grade/regulated environments
  • Familiarity with high-hazard processes and safety design principles
  • Experience with pilot-scale facility design or novel technology scale-up

This is an opportunity to step into a role where you can lead technically, influence project direction, and contribute to the development of innovative process technologies.
