Head of Compliance – Law Firm

A highly regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to join its Risk & Compliance function in London.

This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to work closely with the Director of Compliance, helping shape and enhance the firm’s governance, risk and compliance framework while leading a high‑performing compliance team.

The Role

As Head of Compliance, you will:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a talented compliance team.
  • Oversee client and matter onboarding processes, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
  • Act as a key escalation point for AML, CDD and source of funds queries.
  • Drive strategic compliance and onboarding improvement projects.
  • Support the development and implementation of compliance policies, procedures and controls.
  • Deliver compliance training and awareness initiatives across the firm.
  • Prepare management information and compliance reporting to support governance and decision‑making.
  • Build strong relationships with partners, stakeholders and external parties.

About You

You will have:

  • Significant experience in risk and compliance.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Strong AML, CDD and regulatory compliance knowledge.
  • Experience gained within a law firm environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A commercial, pragmatic and solutions‑focused approach.
  • The ability to thrive in an evolving environment.
  • A degree‑level education; legal or compliance qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
