Consultant Anaesthetist

Overview

We are looking to appoint a Consultant Anaesthetist to complement a department of over 40 people in a busy District General Hospital. On-call commitments will cover ICU. The ICU at Victoria Hospital has 10 beds, with approximately 400 level 3 patients admitted annually.

We provide anaesthesia and critical care for a wide range of specialty surgery including robotics, general surgery, breast, ENT, maxillofacial, obstetrics, gynaecology (general and oncology), trauma and orthopaedics, ophthalmology and paediatrics. Day surgery is performed at a stand‑alone unit in Dunfermline. We also provide support to an on‑site National Treatment Centre for elective orthopaedic work.

Responsibilities

• Provide on‑call ICU coverage as part of the department.
• Deliver anaesthesia and critical care for the listed specialty surgeries.
• Support the National Treatment Centre for elective orthopaedic procedures.

Qualifications

• Medical postgraduate qualification (e.g., FRCA, MRCP, FFICM).
• On the Specialist Register or within six months of a Certificate of Completion of Training at the time of interview.
