Job description

A Salaried GP is required to provide high-quality clinical care to patients through face-to-face, telephone and online consultations and to manage a caseload of patients, ensuring safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care. The role is on a 2-year fixed-term contract with a view to permanency.

Working Hours & Contract

  • Work days: Mon AM & PM, Wed AM & PM, Thurs AM
  • 2-year fixed-term contract (with view to permanency)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients through face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations.
  • Manage a caseload of patients, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care.
  • Uptake a share of the practice’s clinical and administrative workload, including repeat prescriptions, referrals, and results management.
  • Work collaboratively with GP colleagues, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the practice’s commitment to high performance in QOF, CQC standards and local ICB objectives.
  • Support the practice’s role as a teaching and training environment, engaging with GP trainees, medical students, and other learners where appropriate.
  • Participate in regular clinical meetings and practice development initiatives.
  • Provide continuity of care for patients with long-term conditions and support proactive, preventative healthcare approaches.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and commitment to improving patient outcomes within a supportive and forward-thinking practice.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes according to agreed standards.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate.
  • Collect data for audit purposes and comply with QOF requirements.
  • Deliver enhanced services.
  • Undertake normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
  • In accordance with the practice timetable, be available for face-to-face surgery consultations, e-consult and video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self-referenced or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develop care plans for health.
  • Provide counselling and health education.

Reporting Structure

Will report to the GP Partner (clinically) and to the Executive Director (administratively).

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • Full registration with GMC
  • Certification of Completion of Training (JCPTGP/PMETB)
  • Inclusion on Performers List
  • Evidence of a commitment to ongoing personal & professional development
  • MRCGP

Experience

  • Experience of providing primary care in and out of hours
  • Experience of audit and improving care for patients
  • Experience of working in primary care
  • Experience of working in primary care past Registrar level
  • Development of areas of clinical expertise

About Priory Medical Centre

Priory Medical Centre is a well-established GP partnership in Warwick with a list size of approximately 18,900 patients and one branch surgery. It offers a modern, purpose-built practice and operates high standards of care. The new facility opened in 2021 and the practice closed the previous Cape Road surgery. The branch surgery remains available at 1 Brese Avenue, Woodloes Park, Warwick, CV34 5TS.
