Henley Green Medical Centre are looking for a part time 4 session GP to join our team.
The position is salaried.
Henley Green Medical Centre is situated in Coventry and serves a diverse population. There are great transport links with easy access to the M6 and national rail networks.
We have recently switched to a total triage model and have a wide and varied team of clinicians including FCP's, Paramedics, and Clinical Pharmacists.
Main duties of the job
- Provide high-quality, patient-centred general medical services to the practice population
- Undertake a mix of face-to-face and telephone
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
- Prescribe safely and effectively in line with current guidelines and best practice
- Manage and monitor long-term conditions
- Review and action pathology results, clinical correspondence, and other patient-related documentation
- Participate in duty doctor rota as required
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in line with practice and GMC standards
- Support safeguarding responsibilities for both children and vulnerable adults
- Contribute to quality improvement, audits, and practice development initiatives
- Engage in continued professional development and appraisal processes
- Attend monthly practice & clinical meetings
About us
We are a forward thinking training practice with over 8000 patients. Currently the team consists of 5 GP's, 3 Practice Nurses & 2 HCA's. We also have 3 Registrars on rotation.
We work collaboratively with local practices as a member of Sowe Valley PCN.
The management team are currently focused on the wellbeing of the team and providing the best possible quality of care to patients.
The practice was rated Good by CQC in February 2026.
Job responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical responsibilities:
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- In accordance with the practice rota, the post-holder will undertake an On Call day as Duty Doctor and/or Triage Doctor which will involve home visits, telephone triage, urgent on the day appointments and dealing with emergency duties which arise on the day. The On Call days are allocated on a rota basis between all GP staff
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Occasionally dealing with private medicals and insurances
- Cross cover for other GPs when they are on leave to cover post, results, tasks and prescriptions
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Other responsibilities within the organisation:
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. Prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
- A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
- Contributing to Practice Meetings and Clinical Meetings where appropriate
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
- Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records
- Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GP Register
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate
- Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent
- Included on a Medical Performers List or eligible
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Evidence of other specialist interest /development / training
