Salaried GP Rare Opportunity | Newbold Surgery

£11,634 - £12,169 per session (depending on experience)

Due to the retirement of a long‑standing GP after more than 30 years, there is a rare opportunity to join a friendly, well‑established team at Newbold Surgery. The practice serves approximately 12,400 patients and is committed to high‑quality, patient‑centred care while evolving to improve access, sustainability and staff well‑being.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Assessment, diagnosis, treatment and onward referral of patients
  • Managing a defined patient list
  • Participation in core hours, duty/on‑call rota, and extended access
  • Contribution to practice development and service improvement
  • Supporting GP registrars and medical students; opportunity to lead undergraduate teaching

The Team

Job Responsibilities

  • 13 appointments (10‑minute slots) plus emergency overspills per session
  • Own blood results, lab links and a fair share of any GPs who are on holiday
  • Own workflows and a fair share of any GPs who are on holiday
  • Fair share absent GP prescriptions
  • Referral letters
  • Telephone consultations
  • Fair share of home visits
  • On‑call/duty doctor WTE 1 per week (occasionally 2 per week)
  • Extended surgery WTE 1 per week
  • Manage a patient list as the usual GP for a caseload of patients with associated paperwork
  • Reports during contracted hours
  • Mentoring and support of trainees

Entitlements

  • 6 weeks annual leave plus 1 week study leave

Training and Personal Development

  • Responsible for own learning and training needs with ongoing personal development in line with the appraisal process
  • Develop and maintain a personal development plan and meet annual requirements
  • Mandatory training, including QUEST afternoon on a Wednesday (time off in lieu if non‑working day)

Management of Risk

  • Manage and assess risk within areas of responsibility and undertake activities to manage those risks
  • Identify potential risks and report them
  • Use training to update knowledge and skills

  • Qualified GP, MRCGP, General Practitioner Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent

  • Trainer or interest to become a trainer to support medical students

  • Flexibility to work outside core hours
  • Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check

  • Project lead experience with CQC, ICB and QOF
