Woodgrange Medical Practice is looking for a salaried GP for 4 sessions per week.
We are a well‑organised, efficient practice, with a list size of 16,500 and growing. The practice is based in a spacious converted bank that has been extended to provide a comfortable and modern clinical environment. Excellent transport links are available nearby the Olympic Park and Westfield shopping centre.
We have a strong ethos of teaching and training and are proud of a large Primary Care team that includes 13 doctors, 1 GP in Dermatology/surgery, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 practice nurses, 3 HCAs, a Diabetic Nurse Specialist, 3 pharmacists, and a supportive clinical and administrative staff. Every team member is encouraged to develop professionally and to specialise in areas such as Substance Misuse, Mental Health, Dermatology, Minor Surgery, Paediatrics and Women’s Health.
Job responsibilities
- Attend practice meetings and support additional services as required.
- Liaise with external authorities and conform to practice procedures for QOF, prescribing incentive schemes, PBC and other enhanced services.
- Work extended hours on a rota basis and cover for other doctors on annual or study leave.
- Conduct telephone, video and telephone triage consultations.
- Handle pathology results, hospital and mail correspondence.
- Prepare and submit Benefit Agency, Social Services and Insurance reports under agreement with partners.
- Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, prescribing in accordance with the accepted formulary.
- Write referral letters, update and summarise patient records including letters received.
- Teach and supervise students, GP registrars, nurses, FY2 doctors and other placement doctors.
- Maintain clean and tidy rooms, manage own time, workload and resources effectively.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner and maintain good relationships with staff, doctors and patients.
- Contribute to team improvement by reflecting on activities and making suggestions.
- Prepare for and participate in CQC visits.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required.
Qualifications
- Eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS.
- Experience as a GP educator.
- Experience of appraisal in practice or other setting.
- Willing to successfully complete appropriate appraisal training and remain up to date with the developing GP appraisal, relicensing and revalidation agenda.
- Ability to handle sensitive information tactfully.
- Demonstrated ongoing personal and practice development.
- Facilitative approach to working with colleagues and patients.
- Skill in discussing difficult areas sensitively and diplomatically.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, face‑to‑face and active listening skills.
- Ability to recognise and respond to alternative communication needs.
- Computer skills familiar with GP‐based software, Microsoft Word and e‑mail.

Depending on experience, starting salary £10,750.00.
