Business Development Consultant

Between £37,000 and £45,000 Per Month

Job description

Principal Consultant - Social Care Solutions

Pay Range £37k - £45k basic salary + uncapped commission

Location: Liverpool

Working model: Hybrid – 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

As a Principal Consultant, you’ll lead on winning new business across the public sector – focusing on local authorities and social care services. This is a pure business development role where you’ll take ownership of building a pipeline, opening doors, and securing new partnerships. You’ll engage senior stakeholders, understand their workforce challenges, and position solutions that deliver real impact. This is not a traditional recruitment role. While sector knowledge will come, your success will be driven by your ability to identify opportunities, generate conversations, and convert them into long‑term business.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new client acquisition across local authorities and public sector organisations.
  • Build and manage a targeted pipeline of prospects using CRM and market insight.
  • Cold‑call, outreach and network to create opportunities and meetings.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders and decision‑makers.
  • Lead consultative sales conversations to understand client challenges and position solutions.
  • Work with internal specialists to develop and deliver tailored proposals.
  • Convert opportunities into new business wins and long‑term partnerships.

What makes this role different

  • A true hunter role with full ownership of new business generation.
  • Access to existing prospect lists, data tools and CRM (HubSpot) to accelerate your success.
  • Opportunity to sell solutions, not just services.
  • A long‑term sales environment focused on high‑value, strategic wins.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven track record of winning new business in a BD or sales role.
  • Strong experience in cold outreach, pipeline building, and deal conversion.
  • Confident engaging and selling to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working towards targets and revenue goals.
  • Nice to have: experience selling into the public sector or regulated industries; background in consultative, solutions‑based sales; exposure to recruitment, consultancy or managed services.

What will make you successful

  • Tenacity and resilience in long sales cycles.
  • Ability to open doors and create opportunities from scratch.
  • A structured, organised approach to managing pipeline and activity.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
