An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Planning Consultant to join a growing Sheffield-based team advising on strategic residential allocations, appeals and Local Plan promotion strategies.

This consultancy has established itself as a trusted advisor to land promoters and national housebuilders, particularly in navigating complex policy environments and politically sensitive sites.

The Role

You will operate as a senior project lead across multiple residential and mixed‑use schemes.

• Managing complex planning applications and strategy development
• Drafting comprehensive Planning Statements and appeal submissions
• Preparing proofs of evidence and supporting public inquiries
• Promoting sites through the Local Plan process
• Supporting team workload management and mentoring

This role demands both technical excellence and strong commercial judgement.

About You

• MRTPI qualified (or extremely close to completion)
• Strong experience in strategic housing and appeals
• Confident client‑facing presence
• Strong project management and commercial awareness
