Job Objective & Responsibilities
To facilitate and control the standards of all support services supplied by ABM. Through competent leadership and management skills the General Manager will develop an effective team consistently meeting or exceeding the service needs of the Client.
Main Duties

General Duties
- Perform specific investigations as may be requested by senior management; responsibility for implementation and maintenance of quality management systems; carry out monthly quality assurance checks.

Financial Management
- Meet budgetary targets, monitor financial plans with profit and loss information, set key objectives.
- Monitor expenditure and income against plan, credit control, control all direct costs using efficient methods of operation.
- Ensure all forecasts are achieved; secure and implement, when necessary, price adjustments.
- Review cost‑efficient methods of operating, manage margin improvements by means of productivity.
- Be responsible for all wage sheets submitted by Site/Contract/Branch/Regional Managers/Supervisors; ensure staff paid correctly and contracts adhere to budgets on wages.
- Authorise all material requisitions, ensuring they are set on budgets and are on the Company’s approved list of materials.

Administrative Duties
- Reply to customer queries, orally and in writing; set work targets for lower management.
- Attend internal and customer meetings on a monthly basis.

Staff Recruitment, Selection and Industrial Relations
- Recruit all Regional Managers, Branch Managers, Contract Managers, Site Managers and Site Supervisors.
- Ensure employment records current, perform staff appraisals; recommend candidates for future development.
- Ensure staff employed in accordance with the Company’s employment procedures.
- Ensure staff trained in duties for which they are employed.
- Ensure staff aware of the Company’s Disciplinary and Grievance procedures and that procedures are adhered to in all disciplinary cases.
- Ensure Company Health and Safety procedures practised by all employees.

Business Development
- Expand revenue base and retention of existing profitable trade; seek growth; successful conversion of competitive estimates; help with sales, prospecting, surveying, estimating and securing new trade.

Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times.
- Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
- Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
- Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and/or via your divisional incident reporting system.
