Overview

Head of Risk & Compliance – Manchester – Hybrid working.

We’re working with a growing regional law firm in the North West that is looking to appoint a Head of Risk & Compliance to take ownership of the firm’s risk function. This is a newly created role that will shape the future of compliance within the business. Currently, compliance responsibilities sit with the Managing Partner, who holds the COLP, COFA and MLRO roles.

The hire will become the firm’s first dedicated compliance lead, providing strategic oversight and strengthening the firm’s approach to risk management.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day risk and compliance function
• Support the COLP, COFA and MLRO responsibilities
• Oversee AML, client due diligence and regulatory compliance
• Review and enhance policies, procedures and controls
• Advise partners and fee earners on SRA requirements
• Develop a proactive compliance culture across the firm

About you

• Previous experience within legal risk & compliance
• Ideally a qualified Solicitor or Legal Exec
• Strong knowledge of the SRA regulatory framework
• Experience across AML, compliance monitoring and risk management
• The confidence to operate autonomously and influence senior stakeholders
