Job overview

Whatever you’re looking for in your next career move, you’ll find it all at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Bringing together hospitals and community services from across Manchester, Salford, Trafford & beyond, we’re pooling our knowledge, skills and resources to provide even better care for the diverse communities of our thriving city region. MFT is the largest Foundation Trust in the country and as such means more opportunities for you. With comprehensive services and strong research links, you can advance your specialism, progress your career, and take your knowledge further. We want talented people from all backgrounds to choose to join our diverse teams, and so we’ll support your work‑life balance with flexible and agile working options.

Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration: an active license, ceased license or pending application with the GMC at the point of application. Candidates who do not fit this criteria will not progress through to the shortlisting stage.

So why not consider your next and best career move at MFT and join us as a Consultant Psychiatrist in our CQC rated Outstanding CAMHS Directorate. MFT CAMHS is one of the largest CAMHS and the most comprehensive service in the country. We have received two Outstanding ratings from CQC over the past 4 years and are considered the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

All our CAMHS teams have a wide mix of skills and experience in their multi‑disciplinary teams and enthusiastic, supportive colleagues – so you’d be joining a friendly, highly skilled and cohesive environment. The Consultants across CAMHS meet regularly for academic, professional and social support with a well‑respected training scheme for trainees placed across the services.

It goes without saying that you’ll be expected to take part in frontline work and/or on call though, with a large increase in consultant numbers, we anticipate you’ll still have the capacity to make use of the facilities of our large University Hospital and have the time to make the most of working and living.

To start with, job plans will initially consist of 10 PAs comprising 8 PAs direct clinical care and 2 SPAs. That said, we are flexible about the composition of the clinical part of the job plan and would be able to offer more than 2 SPAs to individuals with a substantial interest in teaching or research and will also consider part‑time working too. Each job plan will be reviewed annually by the Clinical Director.

Resilient, ambitious and innovative, you’ll carry a vibrant ‘can do’ attitude and mirror our values perfectly, with the skill and flexibility to operate at a high pace and overcome individual and organisational obstacles readily, positively and collaboratively. These are truly valuable opportunities to take your career to the next level.
