Job Summary

The Head of Community at The Theatre Chipping Norton leads engagement with our community, identifies needs, and creates programmes to meet those needs. The role offers a unique opportunity to make connections and create support that will have lasting and life‑changing impacts.

Job Description

The position sits within the Take Part Department. The Head of Community is line‑managed by the Take Part Director and works alongside the Take Part Officer and the Mental Health Project Co‑ordinator. The Head of Community may instruct the Take Part Officer on project involvement and may manage project managers supporting work with older people.

The role delivers meaningful, socially impactful outcomes for our town and surrounding region. Work focuses on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, and people experiencing economic deprivation, in partnership with a wide range of local groups. It involves responding to needs, tackling isolation and inequality at their root, and meeting people where they are.

Responsibilities

  • Lead community engagement and identify local needs.
  • Develop and deliver programmes that address identified needs.
  • Partner with local organisations to meet people where they are.
  • Address isolation and inequality within the community.
  • Coordinate with the Take Part Officer and project managers on community projects.
  • Report and evaluate the impact of community programmes.

Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience in community arts and social impact work.
  • Passion for the arts and a proven capacity to effect positive change in people’s lives.
  • Excellent communication, networking and partnership skills.
  • Experience working with Special Educational Needs, Social/Emotional/Mental Health and economically deprived groups is desirable.

Working Conditions

The role can be part‑time or full‑time, requiring 21–35 hours per week. Some flexibility is required to attend Take Part events, which may occur in the evenings and on weekends.
