Job description

We are looking for an individual to join the Urology Department to manage and maintain the General Urology Cancer/RTT Service, including but not limited to; RTT Validation, implementing STT within a large cancer/benign service, working with CPG team to better the performance of our service. The successful applicant will have specific responsibility for our Diagnostic prostate cancer pathways and will also need to demonstrate flexibility to support other Urology subspecialties as required.

Main duties of the job

This is a busy and a fast paced role within the Urology department

The incoming post holders will need to have good attention to detail, be patient focus and demonstrate the ability to work independently.

The successful candidate will also be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.

Person Specification

Education and professional qualifications

  • English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent
  • Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Courses / further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development

Experience

  • Experience of appropriate interaction with all levels of staff and professional experience
  • Previous administrative and organisational experience
  • Experience of managing and prioritising one's own workload and working to deadlines
  • Experience of dealing with non-routine and/or complex problems
  • Previous experience of working with the public and/or patients in a healthcare environment

Skills and aptitudes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent customer/patient care practice, these include qualities such as; being polite, sympathetic, patient and diplomatic
  • Understands the importance of patient confidentiality
  • Ability to use databases or comparable systems
  • Strong aptitude in Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Cerner or comparable electronic patient record system
  • Awareness of National and Trust pathway targets (such as 18 week RTT target)
  • Ability to confidently interact and share knowledge with staff at all levels
