Job description

Pathfields Medical Group is seeking an enthusiastic and patient-centred Salaried General Practitioner to join our friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking practice team. The position is permanent and for 4 sessions per week. (Days to be determined).

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a GP who is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

As a Salaried GP, you will provide comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient population, managing acute and chronic conditions, promoting preventative healthcare, and supporting patients to achieve the best possible health outcomes. You will work alongside experienced clinical and non-clinical colleagues, including GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, and administrative teams.

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

We are a GP single-practice Primary Care Network based within the Plymouth area, providing care to over 30,000 patients. We aspire to delivering excellence in health care and feel the best model to achieve this is one where we have a unified service working across multiple locations including Plympton, Laira, Efford, Crownhill and the city centre. This gives our patients choice: choice over where they visit and who they see. This is particularly useful for patients that need a little extra expertise many of our clinicians have a specific area of interest and sometimes it is worth travelling to see them for their extra skills in a specific area.

We have approximately 140 employees and employ a wide variety of different roles including Salaried GPs, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Pharmacy Technicians, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomists Receptionist, Administrators and many more!

Job responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

The followingare the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, arequirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors suchas workload and staffing levels.

Thedelivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

Theprovision of services commensurate with the GMS or PMS contract

Genericprescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Effectivemanagement of long-term conditions

Processingof administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptionrequests and other associated administrative tasks

On arotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

Maintainaccurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy andguidance

Workingcollaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhereto best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Contributeto the successful implementation of continuous improvement and qualityinitiatives within the practice

Acceptdelegated responsibility for a specific area

Attendand contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Contributeeffective to the development and maintenance of the practice including;clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

Ensurecompliance with the appraisal process

Prepareand complete the revalidation process

Committo self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional developmentacross the practice team

Supportthe training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

Supportthe partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, makingrecommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

Reviewand adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

Encouragecollaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a cultureof continuous improvement at all times

SecondaryResponsibilities

In addition to the primaryresponsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

  • Participatein practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participatein the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structuredapproach i.e. Root cause analysis (RCA)

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP

Experience

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of continued professional development
  • Experience of QOF and clinical audit
  • Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
  • General understanding of the GMS contract
  • Experience of medicines management
  • Experience of ICB/PCN initiatives
