Band 8a Specialist Pharmacist - Gastroenterology

Are you an experienced and forward-thinking pharmacist looking for your next leadership opportunity in a specialist clinical role? Frimley Health is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly skilled pharmacist to join our Gastroenterology team as a Band 8a Specialist Pharmacist.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical care within Gastroenterology, while providing expert clinical leadership across the Trust. Based at Frimley Park Hospital, this post also carries cross-site responsibilities, offering the chance to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and influence service delivery on a wider scale.
Responsibilities
- Develop the clinical pharmacy service to patients within the specialist area.
- Provide clinical pharmacy services to patients within the specialist areas.
- Act as a role model in the field of clinical pharmacy practice and provide a consistently high standard of clinical service in line with the pharmacy objectives.
- Support the recruitment, management and development of staff under the postholder.
- Work closely with the senior pharmacists, clinicians, nursing staff and other senior managers to develop pharmaceutical services to patients within the directorate.
- Ensure close relations cross-site with the Gastroenterology team at Wexham Park Hospital.
- Attend ward rounds / clinics when appropriate and able.
- Work with the Surgical Lead Pharmacist in the provision and delivery of a TPN service.
- Provide a clinical pharmacy service to specialised areas and a clinical pharmacy service to cover other areas when ward cover is needed.
Qualifications
- Pharmacy degree (Masters level 4 years)
- Registered with GPhC
- Postgraduate clinical diploma or equivalent
- Independent Prescriber (or intention to become one)
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- MSc or higher degree
- UKCPA membership
- RPS membership
Experience
- Experience of producing guidelines
- Experience of producing drug appraisals
- Experience of managing staff
- Significant post-qualification experience working as a pharmacist in a clinical environment.
- Regular experience of providing clinical pharmacy support
- Teaching/tutoring experience
Skills and knowledge
- Applied clinical knowledge
- Ability to adapt and cope with challenges
- Organisational skills
- Evidence of interest in research

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £57,888 to £64,880 per annum, including HCAS.
