Job description
Trust Resident Doctor ST1/2 (MN35), Urology – West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
The closing date is 15 July 2026
Overview
This is a 10‑month fixed‑term post for a Trust Resident Doctor ST1/2 (MN35). The main duties involve seeing, diagnosing and treating urology patients, referring to other clinicians or general practitioners where appropriate, and performing theatre work.
You will work closely with nursing, professional, technical, administrative and support staff. Together with the registrars you will ensure a high standard of patient care, including twice‑daily patient reviews at Watford General Hospital and provision of adequate clinical notes in line with good medical practice. On occasion you may assist in teaching medical students.
Job Responsibilities
You will be required to work to a 1:12 joint General Surgery/Urology on‑call rota, which will be produced in advance and cover annual leave for colleagues. From 0800‑2000, seven days a week, two resident doctors will cover either General Surgery or Urology; outside these hours one resident doctor will cover.
Junior doctors may be asked to work over and above their contracted hours in emergencies or unforeseen circumstances at the request of the Clinical Director. These additional commitments are exceptional and should not be routine.
