Job Profile Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a Compliance Manager to lead our global threshold programme, change projects and threshold monitoring oversight within Ethics & Compliance Regulatory Reporting Team. As a license to operate function, we play a critical role in keeping bp ST&S safe and aligned with multi-jurisdictional regulatory obligations.

The preferred candidate must have strong project and organizational change experience delivering regulatory projects. In this role, you will be leading the delivery and governance of regulatory thresholds such as EMIR Clearing, MAS Significant Derivatives Holder and MiFID Ancillary Test thresholds. The ideal candidate must also have excellent customer management experience at senior level, with a knowledge of working in a regulated trading business (ideally commodities), robust leadership capability, excellent work ethics and a passion for compliance assurance and controls.

The successful candidate will also have oversight accountability for our operational compliance with threshold monitoring obligations across Europe, UK and APAC region, working closely with a team of operational specialists to ensure ongoing compliance and effective monitoring and controls are in place. The candidate will be required to build and establish strategic partnerships with our business and functional partners across ST&S.

In this role, you will work as a SME alongside the Senior Compliance Manager, other Compliance Managers and Regulatory Reporting Specialists across diverse location hubs in London, Poland and Pune.

 

What does the day-to-day look like?

In more detail, you will have the exciting opportunity to:

  • Project manage the delivery of global regulatory thresholds monitoring and change programmes for the reporting team. This includes regulatory thresholds such as EMIR Clearing, MAS Significant Derivatives Holder and MiFID Ancillary Test thresholds.
  • Lead our monitoring oversight and controls for bp regulatory thresholds obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage and lead our governance framework, senior customer escalation process, and remediation action plans.
  • Lead strategic senior collaborator engagement across the business, Technology and functional lines. Work with Technology and business participants to agree delivery scope and landmarks, prioritization, and design principles on regulatory change projects.
  • Manage our response to regulatory queries in consultation with Senior Compliance Manager, Regulatory Legal and E&C Regulatory Compliance teams.
  • Provide oversight to the operations team to ensure effective monitoring and assessment of risks to regulatory thresholds on an ongoing basis and flag this to relevant team members.
  • Actively participate in industry working groups and lead horizon scanning efforts on new and ongoing regulatory developments. Document and share impact assessment with key interested parties.
  • Develop strategic relationships with senior customers and establish the regulatory reporting team as a key enabler and partner.
  • Raise strategic reporting risks to Senior Compliance Management to ensure safe operations across team.

 

About you:

You will ideally have strong knowledge of commodity trading and products in the financial and wholesale energy market.  You’re a people leader and problem solver, with the ability to lead and work with a diverse team, while building strategic partnerships with senior collaborators. This role requires the successful candidate to work autonomously and have excellent communication skills with a clear passion and care for regulatory compliance, and the ability to take the lead on priorities and deliver under pressure.

You will ideally have experience of delivering compliance change programmes  in one or more G20 reporting jurisdictions. You will be comfortable challenging the norm to raise standards, have the courage to recommend industry protocols, and promote efficiencies.

As a leader, you must be able to speak up, you have confidence to present to senior leadership, call out risks in a timely manner and embed a strong compliance demeanor across the team. You must have a demonstrable track record of upskilling others and sharing knowledge with colleagues and peers.
