Senior Reserving Actuary
Excellent opportunity to join our Reserving team at Admiral Group as a Senior Reserving Actuary. This role offers the chance to apply your actuarial knowledge in a fresh environment, with responsibility for key projects that challenge and reward you.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Reserving, you will be a key part of the team from day one – building your understanding of our business, contributing to reserve reviews, and shaping continuous improvement of our processes. As a senior member, you will also support and mentor junior colleagues, fostering capability across the team and working closely with stakeholders including Finance Senior Management, Claims, the Reserving Committee, Audit, Line 2 Risk, Reinsurance partners and external actuarial partners.
Responsibilities
- Own and contribute to key elements of the quarterly reserving process across Motor, Household and Van products from data through to insight and reporting
- Challenge and validate outputs to ensure robust decision‑making
- Develop and enhance monitoring tools, collaborating closely with Claims to understand emerging trends
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing smarter, more efficient processes
- Support key initiatives such as data transformation and reserving enhancements
- Review and challenge Solvency UK Technical Provisions and IFRS17 outputs
- Build models and tools to support evolving business needs
- Stay ahead of industry trends and best practice
- Ensure documentation is clear, robust and aligned with Technical Actuarial Standards
- Support and develop colleagues across the wider Reserving teams
Essential skills and experience
- Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary (IFoA or equivalent)
- Strong reserving experience, ideally within personal lines
- Knowledge of Solvency UK and IFRS17 frameworks
- A strong analytical mindset, with excellent attention to detail
- Experience supporting or mentoring others
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and presenting complex insights clearly
- Ability to manage priorities and deliver to deadlines independently
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with actuarial data and models
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience across multiple product lines (e.g. Motor, Household, Van)
- Exposure to transformation or process improvement initiatives
- Awareness of market trends within personal lines reserving
