Teaching Assistant \n Location: Backwell\n Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time Only\n Salary: £22,996 £25,068 (Actual, dependent on experience & qualifications)\n Contract: Permanent, Full-Time\n \n A brand new specialist school is opening its doors in January 2027, and are looking for a number of dedicated Teaching Assistants to help bring this exciting vision to life. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something genuinely transformative from day one.\n \n The school will provide a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious environment for children and young people aged 519 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With capacity for 96 learners, the aim is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational setting where every pupil can thrive.\n The Role\n \n As a Teaching Assistant, youll play a vital role in supporting pupils learning, wellbeing and personal development. Working closely with the Class Teacher and wider team, youll help create a caring, structured and stimulating environment where every learner is supported to reach their full potential.\n Key Responsibilities\n

• Support pupils with learning activities and reinforce concepts taught by the teacher.

\n

• Promote positive behaviour and adapt your approach to meet individual needs.

\n

• Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, dressing and eating when required.

\n

• Encourage independence, confidence and personal development.

\n

• Provide clear, accurate feedback on pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.

\n

• Help prepare learning resources and contribute to lesson planning and evaluation.

\nAbout You\n Essential Qualifications\n

\n
• GCSE Maths & English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2).

\n

• Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (or willingness to work towards).

\nEssential Skills & Experience\n

• A child?centred approach and commitment to treating every learner as an individual.

\n

• Ability to promote independence and positive behaviour.

\n

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

\n

• Confident ICT skills and a collaborative working style.

\nDesirable\n

• Experience within a SEND setting.

\n

• Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
