The team is based at Parkside Community Mental Health Centre, Middlesbrough.
Overview
The Consultant will provide committed, proactive and responsive clinical leadership in partnership with Treatment & Intervention and EIP teams, offering comprehensive care to individuals with chronic or severe mental health conditions.
Responsibilities
- Supervise specialty doctors, foundation doctors and nurse prescribers within the teams.
- Provide medical input and conduct joint reviews for complex, unstable and high‑risk patients.
- Participate in personalised care planning, formulation meetings and care review meetings.
- Attend daily huddles and weekly supercell meetings to contribute to patient care decisions and management plans.
- Undertake assessments for new patients, perform follow‑up reviews, provide diagnosis and treatment plans via the Model Line process.
- Act as Responsible Clinician for patients on Community Treatment Orders (CTO) and MOJ orders.
- Conduct Mental Health Act assessments in the community and occasional Section 136 assessments.
- Coordinate on‑call duties (frequency 1:18) covering all Teesside mental‑health units, the Crisis Assessment Suite (CAS) and acute hospitals.
- Provide supervision to junior medical staff and non‑medical prescribers.
