Business Development Manager - Data Centre Fire Suppression

What You Will Do

Join Johnson Controls as a Business Development Manager responsible for driving growth within the Data Centre sector. Focusing primarily on fire suppression solutions, you will identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities with data centre operators, developers, consultants, contractors, and end users. Using your industry expertise and consultative approach, you will build strategic relationships with key stakeholders, influence project specifications, and position Johnson Controls as a trusted partner for critical fire protection solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in one of the world's fastest-growing infrastructure sectors, helping customers protect critical assets, maintain business continuity, and enhance operational resilience.

How You Will Do It

  • Develop and execute a business growth strategy focused on fire suppression opportunities within the data centre market.
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with data centre operators, developers, consultants, and contractors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers across the data centre ecosystem.
  • Promote Johnson Controls' fire suppression and life safety solutions through a consultative, value-driven sales approach.
  • Influence project specifications and engage with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with engineering, proposal, and operational teams to develop innovative customer solutions.
  • Analyse market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activity to identify strategic growth opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of commercial proposals, tenders, and contract negotiations.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and deliver reliable forecasting and reporting.
  • Represent Johnson Controls at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to strengthen market presence and customer relationships.

What We Are Looking For

Required:

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in business development, sales, or commercial leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of developing and securing new business opportunities within the data centre sector.
  • Strong experience within the fire suppression industry, ideally selling fire suppression solutions into critical environments.
  • Demonstrable understanding of fire protection systems and their application within data centres or mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience managing complex sales opportunities involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Commercially astute with strong analytical and market assessment capabilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel as required within the assigned region.

Preferred:

  • Experience within the fire detection industry.
  • Knowledge of gaseous suppression, clean agent systems, water mist, or other specialist fire suppression technologies.
  • Existing network of contacts within the data centre market.
  • Experience working within critical infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales forecasting tools.
  • Understanding of sustainability, energy efficiency, and digital infrastructure trends impacting the data centre sector.
