We are a busy but friendly and supportive practice withlots of team building activities and adventure days/nights out, all while maintainingthe highest clinical standards in a rapidly changing NHS.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate should have high clinical standards and be proactivein taking part in further development of our practice while moving into thePrimary Care Network pathway. They should be an organised, flexible, teamplayer with good communication skills (and a great sense of humour). ST2 andST3 training would be desirable but not essential as training could be providedin these areas. Job responsibilities
A key member of the team, the Salaried GP willmanage a caseload, dealing with a wide range of presenting health care needs ina primary care setting. The post holderwill work with clinical colleagues in ensuring the highest standards of carefor all registered patients. The postholder will also contribute to planning and decision making as part of thepractice team; the job description therefore covers clinical and organisationalelements.
You will be entitled to 30 days annual leave (prorata) and subject to contract initially 6 months with review 6 weeks prior tothe end of contract.
Clinical ResponsibilitiesIn accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the postholder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of dutiesincluding surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries,visiting patients at home, issuing and signing repeat prescriptions anddealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Makes professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presentingproblems, whether self-referred or referred internally within thePractice.
Receives patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsand makes assessment of their health care needs.
Screens patients for disease risk factors and early signs ofillness.
Develops care plans for health in consultation with patients and inline with current Practice disease management protocols.
Provides counselling and health education.
Prescribes in accordance with the prescribing formulary wheneverthis is clinically appropriate.
Admits or discharges patients to and from caseload and refers themto other care providers internally or externally as appropriate.
Supports the trainers in teaching in the Practice and givesclinical supervision to training doctors.
Complies with relevant Practice policy/guidelines, e.g. ChildProtection, confidentially issues etc.Is committed to lifelong learning, audit and effectiveness issuesto ensure evidence based best practice.
Maintains GMC registration.
Complies with annual GP Appraisal.
Ensures continuous Medical Defence cover.
Ensures inclusion on a local Performers list.
Other Responsibilities within the PracticeConsults with patients in the surgery and at home visits as agreedinternally between all partners.
Be available for on-call duties to answer patients telephonequeries or carry out emergency home visits, or surgery consultations asappropriate.
Contributes to the evaluation/audit and clinical standard settingwith colleagues.
Records clear and contemporaneous I.T. Based consultation notes toagreed standards;
Compiles and issues computer-generated acute and repeatprescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible);
In general the post holder will be expected to undertake all thenormal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working withinprimary care.
Contributes to the strategic management and development of thePractice e.g. In developing and contributing to Practice policies andguidelines.
Attendance at training, Practice Meetings and events organised bythe practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
Meets all tight timescales/deadlines for audits and written returnsto ensure that the Practice meets quality standards and receives thedesignated funding (e.g. Quarterly Enhanced Services returns, annual QOFaudit etc.)
Ensuring full accreditation which will include full andunrestricted registration with the GMC, membership of an appropriatedefence body and delivery of annual evidence for appraisal oraccreditation purposes in keeping with National requirements at any time.

FlexibilityThis role profileis intended to provide a broad outline of the main responsibilities only. Thepost holder will be expected to be flexible in relation to duties undertakenand location of work where required by the Practice.

Apply Practicepolicies, standards and guidance
Discuss with othermembers of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect ownwork.
Participate inaudit where appropriate.
Work with thepartners and management team to achieve standards of quality ( eg. QOF / GMstandards), performance standards, budgets and targets without compromisinglevels of patient healthcare.
Contribute towardsthe development and implementation of new standards, policies and proceduresthat are/will be required by GP practices now and in the future.
