Job description

We have a vacancy for an experienced part-time Salaried GP (8 sessions) to support our Chislehurst community. This opportunity has arisen as we prepare for the retirement of one of our highly valued GP Partners, who has dedicated over 25 years of service to our patients and practice. As such, we are looking for a compassionate, committed, and experienced GP to help continue the high standard of care and continuity our patients have come to expect.

We would ideally like the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.

The role is for 8 sessions per week, split across 4 full working days. Due to room availability, the confirmed working days are Monday - Thursday.

The successful candidate will be expected to work across both practice sites.

Main duties of the job

The suitable candidate shouldfeel comfortable working independently as well as alongside ourmulti-disciplinary medical team. The role will include pro-rata involvement withthe duty doctor triage rota working alongside another duty doctor at the oppositepractice site. We expect our team to always act within your professionalboundaries, providing appropriate care for patients from initial historytaking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. Youwill demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, includingassessment and diagnostic skills, for patients within the general practice. Theideal candidate will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinicaldecision-making process.

You will possess the necessaryskills, knowledge and behaviour by promoting and protecting the interests ofservice users and carers, communicating appropriately and effectively, workingwithin the limits of your knowledge and skills, refer & delegateappropriately, respect confidentiality, manage risk, report concerns aboutsafety, be honest and trustworthy and keep records of your work.

Ourclinical system is EMIS which integrates with AccuRx to communicate with ourpatients. Home visiting is supported by our practice Paramedic and AdvancedNurse Practitioner who work alongside the Bromley Healthcare District Nursingteam. We are part of a PCN which has several additional practitioners includingClinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, a Mental Health Practitioner, FirstContact Physiotherapist and Paramedic.

Job responsibilities

Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager or GP Partners, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels.

Person Specification

Experience and skills

  • Ability to both work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice
  • Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice
  • Good MS Office and clinical system IT knowledge
  • Understanding of the spectrum of clinical governance processes
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including recording of accurate clinical notes
  • Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GP colleagues
  • Experience of triage and duty doctor
  • Understanding of safeguarding adults and children
  • Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice
  • Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
  • Experience of medicines management
  • Understanding and knowledge of QOF and enhanced service
  • Previous EMIS web and Docman experience
  • Experience working at triage or duty doctor
  • Experience with home visits

Qualifications

  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCGP
  • Performers List registration noting that confirmation on this list is adequate for DBS confirmation
  • Evidence of current validation
  • Evidence of last appraisal
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently, including right to work in the UK
