Clapham Park Group Practice are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic GP to join our growing multidisciplinary team.

Practice information

  • Join a team of 18 supportive and friendly GP colleagues.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 3 Pharmacists, 1 Pharmacy Technician, 1 Social Prescriber, and large nursing and administrative teams.
  • Well managed practice. CQC rating good in all areas.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high quality care to our patients.
  • Conduct face‑to‑face, telephone and online consultations.
  • Form part of our total triage team on a pro‑rata basis with the other GPs.
  • Undertake home visits.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions in line with national and local guidelines.
  • Issue prescriptions appropriately in accordance with practice and NHS policy.
  • Review test results, hospital letters and correspondence promptly.
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical record keeping using EMIS WEB.
  • Support the training and development of GP registrars, F2s and Allied Health Professionals through clinical supervision.

Job responsibilities

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical responsibilities

  • Make self‑available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  • Provide counselling and health education.
  • Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible).
  • Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary or generically whenever clinically appropriate.
  • Undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. Prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
  • Commit to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
  • Contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
  • Contribute to the development of computer‑based patient records.
  • Contribute to summarising patient records and read‑coding patient data.
  • Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies where appropriate.

  • Access to confidential information must be regulated in accordance with practice policies.
  • All information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice must remain strictly confidential.

  • Ensure proper specimen processing, labelling, handling and storage.
  • Maintain clean, sterile environments and proper waste management.
  • Attend infection control training at least twice annually.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • GMC Registered, not subject to suspension.
  • Currently on a CCG performers list.
  • Clear enhanced DBS check.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • MRCGP, DRCOG.
  • DFSRFH & competence in coil insertion.
  • Work as a GPWSI.
  • Minor surgery skills.

Experience

  • Working in UK General Practice.
  • Working with vulnerable groups.
  • Teaching registrars, F2s or medical students.
  • Delivery of clinical audit.
  • QOF management.
  • Experience using EMIS Web and Docman.

Skills and abilities

  • Understanding of NHS system, challenges, vulnerable groups.
  • Team player, calm under pressure, friendly and inclusive.
  • Commitment to development, strong Microsoft office skills.
  • Able to work autonomously and bring fresh ideas.
  • Understanding of QOF and Enhanced Services.
  • Understanding of neighbourhood or place‑based working.

Post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 requiring a DBS check.

Depending on experience, minimum £12,036 per session.
