Salaried GP- 6/8 Sessions

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, patient-focused General Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive practice team. As a GP within our Practice, you will manage a varied clinical workload, providing high-quality care to registered and temporary patients across a range of clinical settings. You will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team, making autonomous clinical decisions while contributing to the continued development of our services.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care through face‑to‑face consultations, telephone appointments and home visits where appropriate. You will assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and long‑term conditions, prescribe safely and effectively, and make referrals to secondary care and other community services when required.

You will undertake routine GP duties including reviewing test results, processing clinical correspondence, signing repeat prescriptions, maintaining accurate clinical records and participating in the practice's on‑call and extended access rota where applicable.

Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and service development, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to continually improve patient outcomes and the services we provide.

Job responsibilities

• Provide face‑to‑face, telephone and online consultations for registered and temporary patients.
• Assess, investigate, diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based management plans in partnership with patients.
• Prescribe safely, effectively and cost‑efficiently in line with local and national prescribing guidance.
• Review pathology results, hospital correspondence and clinical documents in a timely manner.
• Process repeat prescription requests and medication queries.
• Refer patients appropriately to secondary care, community services and allied health professionals.
• Promote health education, screening, prevention and self‑management.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and legally compliant clinical records.
• Participate in duty doctor sessions, on‑call arrangements and extended access sessions as required.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Inclusion on the NHS England Performers List.
• MRCGP (or equivalent recognised qualification).
• Additional postgraduate qualifications or specialist interests (desirable).

Experience

• Experience of working as a General Practitioner.
• Experience managing a broad range of acute and chronic conditions.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in UK General Practice (desirable).
• Experience using EMIS Web (desirable).
• Experience in quality improvement, audit or teaching (desirable).
