Fixed Term Salaried GP

As a Salaried GP at Dinas Lane Medical Centre, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and patient-centred care to our practice population. Working as an autonomous practitioner, you will provide high-quality clinical services in accordance with your contract of employment, NHS regulations and the standards set out by the General Medical Council (GMC).

You will work collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care while contributing to the ongoing development and success of the practice. As a valued member of the clinical team, you will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, integrity and compassion, building positive relationships with colleagues and patients alike.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to the effective running of the practice by supporting service improvement initiatives, participating in clinical governance and maintaining accurate, timely clinical records. As a training practice, we encourage our GPs to share their knowledge and expertise by supporting, mentoring and, where appropriate, supervising other healthcare professionals and learners within the organisation.

Main duties of the job

You will provide high quality patient centred care through a mix of face to face consultations and telephone triage, managing a structured clinic of appointments across morning and afternoon sessions. The role includes assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, as well as supporting continuity of care for registered patients. You will work collaboratively with the wider clinical team, contributing to shared decision making and effect patient management. You will also utilise EMIS WEB and Docman to maintain accurate clinical records and support safe, effective delivery.

This is complemented by an experienced and committed administrative team, led by the Practice Manager and Deputy Practice Manager.

At Dinas Lane Medical Centre, we are looking for a Salaried GP who is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate and patient-centred care while working collaboratively as part of our friendly multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective services to our patients and contributing to the continued development of the practice.

Clinical Responsibilities

As a Salaried GP, you will be expected to:

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical care to our registered patient population.
• Provide services in line with the General Medical Services (GMS) contract and current NHS guidance.
• Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, considering both physical and psychological health, and formulate appropriate management plans.
• Refer patients to secondary care, community services or other agencies promptly and appropriately, following local pathways and clinical guidance.
• Prescribe safely and cost-effectively in accordance with local formularies, NICE guidance and national prescribing standards.
• Assess and manage acute, urgent and emergency presentations, initiating appropriate treatment and emergency care where required.
• Deliver proactive and effective management of patients with long-term conditions.
• Contribute to the On Call Rota if called upon on an ad hoc basis.
• Promote health and wellbeing by supporting patients to make informed lifestyle choices and encouraging self-management where appropriate.
• Complete all clinical administration, including referrals, medical reports, repeat prescriptions and correspondence, accurately and within agreed timescales.
• Undertake structured medication reviews in line with national guidance, local policies and evidence-based practice.
• Maintain clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in accordance with GMC standards and practice policies.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing fairly to the overall clinical workload and supporting service resilience.
• Practice in accordance with current clinical guidelines, quality standards and audit recommendations.
• Support the development and delivery of personalised and anticipatory care plans for patients with complex needs.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits and service development projects that enhance patient care.
• Take responsibility for an agreed clinical lead area, Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) domain, LQIS, or other area of practice development, where appropriate.
• Attend and actively contribute to practice meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings and educational events.
• Support the practice's commitment to clinical governance, patient safety and continuous service improvement.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and fulfil responsibilities relating to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
• Participate fully in the annual appraisal and GMC revalidation process.
• Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and lifelong learning.
• Adhere to all practice policies, procedures and clinical protocols.
• Foster positive working relationships across the multidisciplinary team, promoting a culture of openness, respect, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Actively contribute to the wider work of the Primary Care Network (PCN) and collaborate effectively with community and secondary care colleagues to deliver integrated patient care.

Qualifications

• Qualifications and Registration
• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the GP Register.
• Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List, or eligibility to join prior to commencement.
• Evidence of the legal right to work in the UK.
• Satisfactory occupational health clearance, including evidence of immunisation status in line with national guidance (including Hepatitis B where appropriate).
• Up-to-date appraisal with a commitment to maintaining GMC revalidation requirements.
• Recent experience working within UK General Practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centred care to individuals with a wide range of clinical and social needs.
• Commitment to multidisciplinary team working and collaborative practice.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, where required for the role.
• Experience of contributing to service development and quality improvement within primary care.
• Understanding of the changing landscape of General Practice, Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).
• Knowledge of Care Quality Commission (CQC) Fundamental Standards and their application within General Practice.
• Awareness of contractual frameworks, Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), LQIS, enhanced services and performance monitoring.
• Experience of clinical audit, governance and service evaluation.
• Previous involvement in teaching, supervision or mentoring within a training practice.
