Corretto is a new coffee shop focused on serving high-quality coffee, excellent food, and warm, memorable customer experiences. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Head Barista to help establish our coffee standards, lead the barista team, and create a welcoming atmosphere from day one. The Role As Head Barista, you will lead the day-to-day coffee will prepare consistently excellent drinks, train and support the barista team, maintain high standards of service and cleanliness, and help shape the coffee culture of our new shop. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is passionate about coffee, enjoys developing people, and thrives in a busy customer-focused environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based drinks, filter coffee, teas, and other beverages. Set and maintain recipes, preparation methods, and presentation standards. Lead, motivate, and support the barista team during daily service. Train new team members in coffee preparation, customer service, food safety, and equipment use. Monitor drink quality and provide regular coaching and feedback. Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional customer service. Handle customer questions, requests, and complaints calmly and positively. Support the opening and closing of the coffee shop. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe coffee bar and customer area. Complete daily equipment cleaning and basic maintenance. Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering coffee, milk, syrups, packaging, and other supplies. Reduce waste and help manage portion control and product costs. Work closely with the manager or owner on menus, seasonal drinks, promotions, and events. Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and food-handling requirements. Help create a positive, inclusive, and professional workplace culture. Skills and Experience Previous experience as a Head Barista, Senior Barista, or Barista Supervisor is preferred. Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, milk steaming, grinder adjustment, and coffee extraction. Ability to produce consistent, high-quality drinks during busy service periods. Experience training or supervising team members. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organisation, reliability, and attention to detail. Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure. Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards. Flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required. Desirable Specialty coffee experience. Latte art skills. Knowledge of different brewing methods and coffee origins. Experience supporting a new café or coffee shop opening. Food safety or barista training certification. Experience with stock control, ordering, and point-of-sale systems.
