This post is for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, 7 Programmed Activities, in the All Age Eating Disorder Service, based at Orchards Health Centre, Gascoigne Road, Barking, IG11 7RS.

This is a replacement substantive post of 7 Programmed Activities (PAs) with a ratio of 5.25 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) to 1.75 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).The purpose of this job description is to outline the level of responsibility and accountability of this post. This will ensure that all work undertaken by our staff is clearly identified and carried out under clear lines of accountability.

The expectation of the post holder will be to support their team, department and organisation to follow the Trusts Values in their day-to-day work.

Main duties of the job

This is a well-established post and has become vacant due to the previous consultant psychiatrist taking up a position in another NELFT service. A lot of transformation has taken place already and continues to take place within Community CAMHS and eating disorder services. This post is currently vacant, and we wish to recruit substantively to this post as soon as possible.The postholder will provide senior medical leadership and specialist medical input within the Eating Disorder Service, supporting high-quality assessment, formulation, diagnosis, and treatment planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to children and young people with eating disorders and associated mental health needs, across Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest.The successful candidate will provide senior medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical cases. The consultant will be expected to provide guidance and supervision to the team, work directly with children and young people, and their families, and liaise as appropriate with other external CAMHS mental health providers, local community paediatric services, and acute hospitals. You will work alongside another CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr Arun Bhaskaran), an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr Marianne Hayward), and 1 Resident Doctor in higher training (in general adult psychiatry).

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register, within 6 months of obtaining CCT
  • MRCPsych or equivalent.

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social determinants of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment interventions in child
  • & adolescent psychiatry and eating disorders.
  • Clear thoughts on how to involve service users and carers in service development and quality improvement
