Executive Director of Community Matters

Job description

We're looking for a strategic and creative leader to take forward the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) communications strategy. As the head of communications, you will lead the efforts to influence the promotion of our profession, shape mental health agendas and campaigns and communicate the vital role of child & adolescent psychotherapy to the public and key stakeholders. 

This is a senior executive director role, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Executive Management Team (EMT). You'll lead a small communications team and oversee the development of the communications strategy across internal and external communications including wider media and digital package.  

We're seeking someone who brings: 

  • Proven senior experience in communications strategy including digital and wider media. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage others. 

  • The ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging messages. 
  • A collaborative approach with confidence in managing internal teams as well as external relationships. 
  • Experience in membership, professional, or regulatory bodies is an advantage.

The ACP is the professional membership body and accredited register for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists in the UK. We have been working to improve the mental health of infants, children, young people, and families since 1949.
