Role Characteristics:
The Health & Safety Advisor Trainee will support the delivery of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) activities across the AB2 Project while undertaking structured development towards becoming a competent Health & Safety Advisor. Working under the guidance of the Senior HSSE Advisor, the postholder will assist with inspections, workforce engagement, incident investigations, monitoring of health and safety performance and implementation of Dalkia's Zero Harm strategy. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience within one of the UK's largest nuclear construction projects whilst developing professional knowledge through formal training and workplace coaching.
Accountabilities:
- Support the Senior HSSE Advisor with the day-to-day delivery of HSSE across the project.
- assist in promoting a positive Zero Harm culture.
- Participate in daily site inspections and workplace monitoring.
- Support behavioural safety conversations and workforce engagement activities.
- Assist with monitoring compliance with HSSE procedures and client requirements.
- Promote good housekeeping standards.
AssuranceAssist with:
- Planned inspections
- Workplace audits
- Observation programmes
- Point of Work Risk Assessments (PoWRA)
- RAMS reviews
- Safe systems of work
Workforce Engagement
- Deliver basic toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Support workforce engagement campaigns.
- Participate in Safety Stand Downs.
- Encourage Near Miss and Positive Intervention reporting.
- Promote Stop Work Authority.
Monitoring & Reporting
Assist with:
- Weekly inspections
- Monthly KPI reporting
- Action tracking
- Leading indicator reporting
- HSSE dashboards
Key Deliverables:
- Successfully complete the agreed competency development programme.
- Support delivery of the AB2 HSSE Plan.
- Complete workplace inspections and observations to the required standard.
- Maintain accurate HSSE records and action trackers.
- Assist with incident investigations and learning reviews.
- Demonstrate continuous professional development towards becoming a competent Health & Safety Advisor.
- Promote Dalkia's Zero Harm culture through positive workforce engagement.
Minimum Qualifications/ Experience:
- CCNSG
- Willingness to work towards the NEBOSH General Certificate (if not already held).
Development Pathway:
The successful candidate will receive:

- Experience delivering toolbox talks and workforce engagement.
- Support towards NEBOSH qualifications.
- Annual competency reviews.
