Job description
Our client, a London-based hedge fund is searching for an Equity Long/Short Analyst to join their high-performing team. This is an end-to-end investing role for a creative, commercially minded analyst who can generate differentiated ideas and take ownership from research through to portfolio impact.
The fund runs a directional long/short equity strategy with a high-conviction, medium-term horizon. The mandate is flexible, no fixed growth or value philosophy, investing globally with a European skew, all-cap.
The Role
This is not a traditional 30–40 stock coverage seat. The successful candidate will have freedom to pursue the best opportunities across a broad universe (TMT ex Semis), contributing directly to returns. Skewed towards Software.
Responsibilities
- Generate high-conviction long and short ideas
- Conduct deep fundamental research, modelling, and industry analysis
- Identify variant views, mispriced expectations, and catalysts
- Present clear investment recommendations
- Monitor positions and reassess thesis / risk-reward
Candidate Profile
- 7+ years’ relevant experience. An out of the box, creative, independent thinker.
- Long/short experience preferred; strong long-only or sell-side candidates considered.
- Consistently strong track record of idea generation and performance.
- Independent, creative thinker with high conviction.
- Strong fundamental research and modelling skills. Self-starter.
- Clear communicator with strong commercial judgement.
Opportunity
A rare chance to join a flexible, high-conviction team where strong ideas matter more than style labels or coverage models.
