Intermediate/Senior Fire Engineer (Remote)

The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Fire Strategy Reports for new and existing developments.
- Develop fire and life safety strategies across multiple sectors.
- Carry out fire engineering assessments and compliance reviews.
- Undertake smoke control and evacuation assessments.
- Review architectural and MEP drawings to ensure fire safety compliance.
- Design and assess active fire protection systems including:
- Sprinkler Systems
- Water Mist Systems
- Fire Pumps
- Hydrants
- Fire Mains
- Gaseous Suppression Systems
- Review hydraulic calculations and fire suppression designs.
- Coordinate fire alarm systems, smoke control and BMS cause-and-effect requirements.
- Support DSEAR and ATEX risk assessments where required.
- Produce technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Provide technical assurance and quality reviews.
- Attend client meetings and multidisciplinary design workshops.
- Liaise with Building Control, approving authorities and key stakeholders.
- Support site inspections, commissioning and witnessing activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business growth.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Intermediate Fire Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects while advancing your career in fire engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop fire engineering strategies in line with BS 9999, BS9991, BS 7974, Approved Document B, and other relevant Fire Protection Standards.
- Design and assess active fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, water mist systems, and gaseous suppression systems.
- Conduct fire risk assessments and provide technical fire safety advice to clients.
- Assist in CFD modelling and fire simulations where required.
- Conduct Fire systems design in BIM software (i.e. Revit) for integration with other disciplines.
- Liaise with clients, architects, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with UK fire safety regulations.
- Prepare technical reports, fire safety statements, and evacuation strategies.
- Support senior engineers in project delivery and mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in fire engineering consultancy or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of BS 9999, BS 7974, Approved Document B, and other relevant fire standards.
- Knowledge of fire suppression systems, including sprinklers, water mist, and gaseous systems.
- Familiarity with computational tools such as Revit, AutoSprink, PyroSim, FDS, or CFAST (preferred but not essential as training can be provided).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
