Darcy's is the newest venue in the collection, and it means more to us than most.
It occupies the Grade II listed former Barclays Bank on Wooler's high street — built in 1863, empty since the bank pulled out in 2018, and now returned to the town as an 80-cover modern British and European bistro. It's named after one of the medieval families who shaped this corner of Northumberland in the 1500s. Getting the keys took fourteen months of negotiation with the council. We didn't do that to open just another restaurant.
Sister site to Adam & Eve in Alnwick, Darcy's is built on the same belief: that a market town at the foot of the Cheviots deserves hospitality as good as anything in London, and that the best restaurants are the ones a town takes ownership of. Northumberland produce, local suppliers, casual but genuinely attentive service. It's the clearest expression yet of what we set out to prove — that in this industry, location doesn't matter.

The role

We're seeking a reliable, energetic and hardworking General Manager with a passion for first-class service and a natural love of hospitality to lead this one.
You will have experience of managing a premium, fresh-food restaurant or food-led pub which consistently delivers results, and you will possess the personality traits and skills needed to deliver an outstanding guest experience, manage a profitable business, and lead a happy, effective and well-trained team. This will be an extremely hands-on role. You will lead your team from the front, and be the smiling face of the business.
You'll be building that team largely from scratch, in a town where you'll quickly know your regulars by name and where your reputation travels faster than any advert. If you're the sort of operator who wants to be part of something a community actually cares about — rather than inheriting someone else's site and someone else's standards — this is a rare one.
