Head of Sales - Interim initially 6 months, with potential for extending

Salary: Competitive + bonus

PURPOSE

As Head of Sales, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the Company's sales strategy to deliver sustainable, long-term revenue growth and profitable market expansion. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead and inspire the Area Sales Managers, Key Account Executives and Internal Sales team, creating a high-performing, customer-focused sales function that consistently delivers exceptional commercial results.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight, ensuring disciplined execution of the sales process, robust pipeline management, and the development of trusted customer relationships. Working collaboratively across the business, you will align sales initiatives with organisational objectives, identify new market opportunities, and drive continuous improvement to maximise commercial performance and customer satisfaction.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop, implement and review the Company's sales strategy to achieve sustainable revenue growth, increased market share and long-term profitability.
  • Translate business objectives into clear commercial plans with measurable targets and KPIs.
  • Analyse market trends, customer insights and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Provide commercial insight to support product development, pricing and business planning.
  • Contribute to the wider strategic direction of the business as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing sales team including Area Sales Managers, Key Account Executives and Internal Sales.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus and continuous improvement.
  • Set objectives, coach and mentor team members, conduct performance reviews and support succession planning.
  • Carry out regular account reviews and field visits to improve team performance.

Commercial Performance & Business Development

  • Deliver revenue, profitability and growth targets across all sales channels.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts, budgets and pipeline management processes.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities while growing existing customer accounts through proactive account development and cross-selling.
  • Lead negotiations for major commercial opportunities, ensuring pricing and contracts meet company standards and profitability targets.

Customer & Key Account Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, retention and loyalty.
  • Represent the Company at customer meetings, industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Oversee strategic account management and ensure effective conversion of enquiries into profitable business.

Sales Process & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure effective execution of the full sales process from lead generation through quotation, contract award and operational handover.
  • Embed Right First-Time principles across quotations, contracts, rental, service, maintenance and shipment management.
  • Continuously improve sales processes to enhance efficiency, productivity and customer experience.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data, reporting and pipeline management while ensuring compliance with Company policies and governance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with Operations, Finance, Service and Product Development to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Head of Operations to ensure seamless transition from sales to operational delivery.
  • Lead Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings to align customer demand with operational capacity.
  • Provide regular commercial reporting, forecasts and performance updates to the Senior Leadership Team.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role with responsibility for both strategic and operational sales performance.
  • Demonstrable success leading and developing high-performing sales teams across field sales, key accounts and internal sales functions.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of delivering sustainable revenue growth and profitability.
  • Excellent strategic planning, forecasting and sales pipeline management experience.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all organisational levels.
  • Experience of developing long-term customer relationships and securing major commercial opportunities.
  • Ability to analyse market trends, competitor activity and commercial data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with a passion for developing people.
  • Highly organised with excellent planning, prioritisation and decision-making abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience within the modular accommodation, construction, plant hire, welfare, rental or related industries.
  • Experience working within a multi-site operational environment.
  • Experience leading organisational change or commercial transformation initiatives.
