Technical Architect / Architectural Technologist | Prime Residential Developer

Curio Careers is looking for a Technical Architect / Architectural Technologist | Prime Residential Developer

Job description

This is an opportunity for a Technical Architect or Architectural Technologist to join a London-based residential developer. Their projects are known for their creative vision, impeccable detailing, and focus on residential and heritage-led schemes. They create destination sites, each uniquely and individually designed, rather than standard residential blocks or apartment schemes.

The business is distinguished by its integrated approach to development, bringing architecture, interior design and construction expertise together under one roof. It's an environment where technical rigour and design ambition are treated as equally important and every detail matters.

The role centres on large-scale, technically complex residential and heritage projects, working primarily across RIBA Stages 3–5+. You'll take a lead role in developing coordinated technical packages, managing consultant and subcontractor coordination, and steering projects through detailed technical design and into on-site delivery. It's a role that rewards someone who moves comfortably between the fine grain of a detail and the bigger picture of how a scheme comes together on site.

The opportunity offers an excellent understanding of the processes, timescales and responsibilities of moving away from practice into a developer set-up, learning alongside other architects. You'll gain a much deeper understanding of costs, programmes, deliverables and working against budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate detailed architectural and heritage façade design packages across complex residential and heritage projects.
  • Lead technical design development through RIBA Stages 3+, ensuring information is coordinated, buildable, and delivered to programme.
  • Produce, manage, and review detailed drawing packages, specifications, schedules, and tender documentation.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers throughout technical and construction stages.
  • Support tender processes, package coordination, and construction sequencing.
  • Oversee technical delivery on site, responding to RFIs and technical coordination queries as projects progress.
  • Monitor design quality and maintain technical consistency across all project stages.
  • Collaborate closely with internal development, design, and construction teams to support efficient delivery.
  • Maintain clear, confident communication with clients, consultants, and wider project stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with UK Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and Gateway processes where applicable.

Requirements & Experience

  • ARB-registered Architect or experienced Architectural Technician/Technologist with strong technical delivery experience.
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale residential, heritage, or listed building projects through technical and construction stages.
  • Strong grasp of façade detailing, technical coordination, construction sequencing, and package delivery.
  • Experience producing and managing detailed technical drawing and tender packages.
  • Solid site coordination and construction-stage experience.
  • Proficiency in ArchiCAD or Revit is essential.
  • Good working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and technical compliance.
  • Familiarity with the Building Safety Act and Gateway processes would be beneficial, though not essential.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and coordination skills.
  • Confidence managing multiple stakeholders within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A detail-oriented, proactive approach, with a genuine sense of ownership over technical delivery.

The role is 4 days office and 1 day wfh.
