Are you passionate about supporting young people with ASC and additional needs? Do you have the patience, resilience, and adaptability needed to succeed as a Specialist SEND TA while helping students overcome barriers to learning and develop confidence?


A warm and inclusive secondary school in Barnet is seeking a resilient Specialist SEND TA to join their Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) from September 2026. This opportunity is ideal for a Specialist SEND TA who is passionate about supporting neurodiverse students within a specialist SEND environment.


As a Specialist SEND TA, you will support a small group of students with ASC across KS3 and KS4, some of whom may also have additional needs including ADHD. This role would suit a Specialist SEND TA who is child-centred and confident managing behaviour.

The Role of a Specialist SEND TA

  • Support students with ASC across KS3 and KS4 within the ARP and mainstream classroom environment.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help students engage with learning and develop key skills.
  • Deliver targeted interventions focused on communication, confidence, independence and emotional regulation.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to support students with their individual needs.
  • Adapt your approach to meet different learning profiles and respond to changing situations.


Requirements

  • A degree from a good university.
  • Strong A-Level results demonstrating good academic ability.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally within a school, youth, mentoring, care or similar setting.
  • Confident managing behaviour and providing consistent, positive support.
