About HealthRota

HealthRota helps NHS and healthcare organisations manage medical workforce staffing safely, efficiently and compliantly. We work closely with Trusts and health systems across the UK, solving real-world workforce challenges through practical, intuitive software built around the needs of healthcare professionals.

Our platform supports rostering, workforce management and workforce planning, helping healthcare organisations improve flexibility, efficiency and staff experience. We are passionate about building products that genuinely reflect how healthcare teams work in practice.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Clinical Product Manager to bring first-hand healthcare experience into the way we design, prioritise and deliver our products.

This is a unique opportunity for a doctor or healthcare professional who enjoys improving systems and solving operational challenges. You will act as the bridge between clinical reality and product development, ensuring that our software reflects the complexities of healthcare delivery, including shift patterns, rostering requirements and workforce management processes.

You will take ownership of a defined area of the product roadmap, working closely with customers, stakeholders and developers to ensure we build the right solutions in the right order. Your healthcare background will help shape product decisions, validate new functionality and ensure that what we deliver is practical, usable and valuable for real-world healthcare teams.

This role offers the opportunity to influence product direction, engage directly with NHS customers, and play a key role in improving the working lives of healthcare staff across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Prioritisation

  • Manage the product backlog in Jira, ensuring it remains clearly prioritised.
  • Determine development priorities based on real-world healthcare experience, customer needs, business objectives and technical feasibility.
  • Produce clear specifications and acceptance criteria that accurately reflect how healthcare services operate in practice.
  • Translate customer and business requirements into structured product requirements and development priorities.

Product Development & Delivery

  • Collaborate closely with the development team throughout planning, build and release activities.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) ahead of release, using your healthcare experience to ensure new functionality is practical and effective in real-world settings.
  • Plan and coordinate software releases.
  • Support the successful delivery of new features from concept through to release.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage regularly with customers to understand their challenges, requirements and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify appropriate solutions that align customer needs with product strategy.
  • Provide stakeholders with clear and regular updates on progress, priorities, risks and key decisions.
  • Act as a clinical voice within the product function, ensuring customer feedback and operational realities are represented throughout the development process.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, with the ability to apply that experience to ensure product decisions reflect real-world use.
  • Comfortable managing a backlog and producing clear specifications, or a willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and customer-facing stakeholders.
  • Excellent prioritisation skills and sound judgement when balancing competing demands.
  • Comfortable working closely with development teams through testing, delivery and release activities.
  • Skilled in managing multiple stakeholders and communicating progress, risks and decisions clearly.
  • A willingness to develop experience coordinating or conducting user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Ability to translate customer or business requirements into clear product specifications.
  • An interest in usability and user experience, with a desire to continuously improve how users interact with the product.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Agile or Scrum delivery methodologies.
  • Previous experience in a product, digital health or health technology role.
  • Familiarity with workforce management, scheduling or rostering software.

Why Join HealthRota?

  • Influence products used by healthcare organisations across the UK.
  • Apply your clinical experience in a role with broad organisational impact.
  • Work directly with customers to solve genuine workforce challenges.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of workforce management technology.
  • Join a collaborative, mission-driven team focused on improving the working lives of healthcare professionals.

Career Development for Doctors

This role offers a clear opportunity for doctors seeking to transition from clinical practice into a full-time career in health technology.

You will gain hands-on experience in product management, digital transformation and healthcare innovation, building a skill set that can lead to future opportunities in senior product leadership, digital health strategy, clinical informatics and executive roles within the health technology sector.

As HealthRota continues to grow, there will be opportunities to expand your responsibilities, influence product strategy and help shape the future of healthcare workforce technology.
