In Mapfre Re, the reinsurance company of Mapfre Group, we are looking for a Marine & Energy Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter to join our London office.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse and international portfolio, contributing to the profitable growth of the business while actively participating in portfolio management, underwriting strategy, and market development.

The position suits candidates with experience in reinsurance, or broking within Marine lines, looking to further develop their technical and commercial underwriting expertise in a global environment.



Key Responsibilitie

  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of Marine & Energy treaty reinsurance business (including proportional and non-proportional structures)
  • Analyse submissions, assess exposures, and determine appropriate pricing, capacity, and terms & conditions
  • Negotiate treaty terms, conditions and wordings with cedents and brokers
  • Contribute to the definition and execution of underwriting and portfolio strategies
  • Monitor portfolio performance and propose corrective actions where needed
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across international markets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients
  • Stay up to date with market trends in Marine & Energy lines

Requiremen

  • Around 5+ years of experience in reinsurance, ideally in Marine underwriting or related role
  • Experience in Marine & Energy lines (Cargo, Hull, Liability, Energy
  • Demonstrate an ability to work closely with head office
  • Background in reinsurance underwriting, or broking will be considered
  • Understanding of treaty structures (proportional and/or excess of loss
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Experience working with brokers and/or clients in international market
  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus
