Job description

We’re looking for an experienced SHE Advisor to join our client in Chorley. This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional who enjoys being hands-on within operational environments. Salary

£50,000 – £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)


Location and Working Pattern

Chorley-based role with operational site presence required. While some flexibility exists for ad hoc home working, this is not a fully hybrid position. A large proportion of this role will involve being visible and engaged with operations onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent SHE advice to ensure compliance with legislation, company procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 standards
  • Maintain a strong presence across operational areas to deliver practical SHE support for manufacturing, projects and site activities
  • Identify hazards and support risk assessments to control risks effectively
  • Lead or support investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing improvements
  • Monitor activities, intervene where standards are not met, and take appropriate corrective action
  • Deliver SHE inductions, toolbox talks and training sessions to promote safe behaviours
  • Carry out inspections, audits and observations, ensuring actions are tracked through to completion
  • Support continuous improvement of SHE processes, systems and performance reporting


Must‑have Requirements

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Experience working within manufacturing, engineering or project environments
  • Strong understanding of SHE principles and the ability to apply them in operational settings
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage teams at all levels


Nice‑to‑have Skills

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • IOSH membership at Graduate or Chartered level
  • Environmental qualification (e.g. IEMA)
  • Experience working under CDM Regulations
  • Background in a regulated industry such as nuclear, defence or construction
