Freelance Design Manager

About the Company

A leading Tier 1 Main Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Design Manager to join their established Bid Team in Central London.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with strong pre-construction knowledge and a proven background delivering large-scale projects. Candidates with extensive site experience who are looking to move into, or continue within, a bid-focused role are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Working as part of a high-performing Bid Team
• Managing the design process on competitive tenders from inception through to submission
• Coordinating consultants and internal stakeholders
• Identifying and managing design risks and opportunities
• Supporting the production of high-quality, winning bids

Qualifications

• Previous experience working for a Tier 1 or reputable Main Contractor
• Proven delivery of projects valued at £30m+
• Sector experience in Education, Healthcare, or Justice/Prisons
• Strong understanding of design management throughout both pre-construction and construction phases
• Extensive site-based experience with the ability to bring practical construction expertise into the tender process
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
