Technical Product Manager

NHS is looking for a Technical Product Manager

Job description

Technical Product Manager — Aggregator Team (Inside IR35)

About the Role

This role is the dedicated Appointments Run & Maintain Cluster product lead for the Aggregator service, spanning two engineering teams: Platforms (DevOps, platform stability) and Onboarding & Continuous Improvement (PEP onboarding and ongoing engineering improvements). Within the latter, a separate PM owns the design and user journey side of onboarding, this role owns the technical product half, alongside driving the continuous improvement programme and acting as product lead for the Platforms team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, maintain and communicate the Aggregator product vision, strategy and roadmap across Platforms and Onboarding & Continuous Improvement.
  • Act as technical product lead for PEP onboarding — owning technical requirements, alongside the Onboarding PM.
  • Lead the continuous improvement programme, prioritising engineering enhancements that improve service quality, efficiency and resilience.
  • Serve as product lead for the Platforms (DevOps) team — balancing stability priorities against feature demand and maintaining a platform health roadmap.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, working with Technical Leads and BAs to break epics into deliverable work packages.
  • Apply a technical product lens to platform and service discussions, translating engineering considerations into product decisions.
  • Use data, operational insight and stakeholder feedback to drive evidence-based prioritisation.
  • Build effective relationships across engineering, delivery and business teams, facilitating collaboration where priorities or dependencies span multiple areas.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Product management experience in digital products, services or platforms.
  • Strong technical product mindset — able to engage meaningfully with engineers, architects and DevOps teams and translate complexity into outcomes.
  • Experience working with or alongside platform/DevOps engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to define strategy, own roadmaps and manage backlogs in an agile environment.
  • Experience balancing strategic, operational and technical priorities across multiple teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
