Turner Lovell are recruiting for an experienced Overhead Linesman for our client who are currently growing their Network Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to work on overhead line projects up to 33kV, delivering essential infrastructure safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.


Working as part of an experienced team and reporting to the Chargehand Linesman, you'll play a key role in delivering overhead line construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects across our network.


We're particularly interested in candidates who hold SSE DNO Authorisations, including live line working, PTW receipt, LV linking, polarity training, and substation entry.


As an Overhead Linesman, you'll be responsible for:

  • Installing, constructing, maintaining, and refurbishing overhead lines up to 33kV.
  • Adhering to client standards, procedures, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Carrying out daily risk assessments and ensuring safe systems of work are followed.
  • Following approved method statements and reporting accidents, incidents, or near misses.
  • Supporting the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of projects as part of a skilled team.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and third parties to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Maintaining your technical competence and ensuring compliance with legislative and client requirements.
  • Demonstrating Freedom's values through high-quality workmanship and a proactive approach to safety.
  • You'll be an experienced overhead lines professional with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.


    Essential Qualifications

    • Full UK Driving Licence (towing capability desirable – training available)
    • First Aid
    • Manual Handling
    • Working at Height
    • Winch Operation (or willingness to undertake training)
    • IPAF MEWP Operator
    • NRSWA Operative
    • SSE DNO Authorisations up to 33kV, including:
    • Live Line Working
    • Permit to Work (PTW) Receipt
    • LV Linking
    • Polarity Training
    • Substation Entry
    • Chainsaw Certification
    • City & Guilds 2322
    • Environmental Awareness
    • Safe Digging Techniques
  • Skills & Experience

    • Experience working within the electricity distribution industry.
    • Practical experience carrying out overhead line works up to 33kV.
    • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team.
    • A positive attitude, reliability, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
