The successful applicant will provide additional medical and clinical leadership to the acute inpatient ward in an established acute care pathway team based on Ward 3 Becklin Centre which is a 22 bedded male unit.Ward 3 along with Ward 4 Becklin and Ward 4 Newsam make up the Male Acute Inpatient Service and the Specialist, alongside the Consultant Psychiatristis expected to be a key member of that leadership team which ensures high quality standards of care are established, monitored and further developed, within a culture of learning and improvement, which enables all staff to work effectively alongside men with acute mental health problems to best meet their needs.

Following a recent workload review, the acute wards have moved to a model where there are two Approved Clinicians per ward – a fulltime Consultant Psychiatrist and either a MPAC, a less than fulltime Consultant or a Specialist Psychiatrist.

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. • MBChB; MRCPsych, CCT in relevant specialist area (or within 6 months of obatining), AC and s12 approved (or within 3 months of obtaining)

Fixed Term Contracts for existing NHS Employees – temporary contracts for employees of LYPFT, or colleagues joining from another NHS Trust, will be offered on a secondment basis wherever possible. In the event this is not possible, an FTC would be issued and this would require a break in service of two weeks.

The purpose of a temporary is role could be for maternity cover, temporary funding or some other reason. At the end of which the need for the temporary work will cease. Temporary roles can stop, be extended and/or made permanent at any point during the period of work. Should the role become permanent then the post-holder will be informed of the process to be followed to convert the position to a permanent one.
