PR Partner (PR Account Director)

Location: Remote First (UK) with travel to Manchester, client sites, and events
Hours: Full Time (5 days/week)
Reports To: Head of PR
Line Management: PR Associate/Junior Partners

About the Role

Open Partners is looking for a high-impact, strategic PR Partner (PR Account Director) to shape and lead integrated PR programmes that drive measurable business outcomes.

In this senior leadership role, you will position PR as a strategic growth engine. Working closely across search, content, social, paid media, and analytics, you will build brand authority, improve discoverability, and create long-term commercial value for both our clients and the agency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Client Leadership: Build and retain long-term client relationships as a trusted strategic advisor, translating commercial challenges into high-performing communications strategies.

  • Integrated Campaign Execution: Oversee creative, insight-led PR campaigns that blend earned media with search dynamics, AI tools, and content marketing to maximise discoverability and reputation.

  • Commercial Growth & Account Expansion: Identify upselling, cross-selling, and revenue-generation opportunities across your client portfolio, while playing an active role in new business pitches.

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Line manage, mentor, and coach junior colleagues (PR Associate and Junior Partners), raising creative and strategic standards across the team.

  • Modern PR & Proposition Innovation: Help evolve Open Partners’ PR proposition by integrating emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and changing consumer behaviours into daily delivery.

  • Crisis Management & Stakeholder Relations: Maintain strong relationships with tier-one media, industry influencers, and key stakeholders, providing senior reputation management and crisis response when needed.

What Success Looks Like in 6 Months

  • You are operating as a trusted strategic partner across your client portfolio with minimal supervision needed for campaign delivery.

  • You have delivered integrated campaigns that achieve both client performance metrics and agency commercial targets.

  • You have identified and converted clear account growth opportunities to boost agency revenue.

  • Your direct reports feel supported, challenged, and are actively developing under your mentorship.

  • You have embedded cross-discipline ways of working across search, social, and paid media teams.

What You Bring

  • Strategic & Commercial Acumen: Proven experience running agency client accounts, leading strategy, and understanding commercial agency drivers.

  • Integrated PR Expertise: Deep expertise in earned media combined with a strong grasp of how modern PR intersects with AI, SEO, content, and paid channels.

  • Collaborative Leadership: Outstanding stakeholder management, clear communication, and a passion for developing junior talent.

  • Cultural Fit: Alignment with our core standards: Smarter (aim high, train hard), Faster (learn and adapt fast), and Better (think, say, and do what is best).

    Our Approach to Hiring
We hire based on mindset first. If you do not tick every single traditional PR agency box, but bring a strong growth mindset, sharp strategic skills, and transferable leadership experience, we want to hear from you!
