Senior Payroll Specialist

London | Hybrid Working (3 days per week onsite)

We're partnering with a well-established, market-leading consumer business to recruit a Senior Payroll Specialist who will play a key role in delivering an accurate and compliant payroll service across multiple payrolls.

The Opportunity


Reporting into the Payroll Manager, you'll oversee the preparation and validation of payroll data, working closely with HR, Finance and external payroll providers to ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on time. You'll also take ownership of payroll controls, resolve complex queries and support ongoing enhancements to payroll systems and processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end preparation and validation of payroll data.
  • Partner with HR, Finance and third-party payroll providers to resolve payroll queries efficiently.
  • Ensure payroll deadlines are met while maintaining exceptional levels of accuracy.
  • Validate statutory payments, payroll calculations and reconciliations.
  • Produce payroll reports, pension submissions and financial outputs.
  • Support payroll audits and maintain strong payroll controls.
  • Act as the internal payroll subject matter expert, providing guidance on payroll legislation and best practice.
  • Drive process improvements, identify efficiencies and help enhance payroll systems and reporting.


About You

You'll be an experienced payroll professional with a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and end-to-end payroll processing. You'll enjoy solving problems, building relationships across the business and continually looking for ways to improve processes.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Proven experience managing complex payrolls within a large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory payments.
  • Excellent analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working with HRIS/payroll systems and payroll reporting.
  • The confidence to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across HR, Finance and external providers.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and delivering an outstanding payroll service.
